Smelly feet dilemma….
Health:
Men are the worst culprits in the smelly, stinking feet dilemma. Yet stinking feet are often blamed on excessive feet sweating and infections among other causes.
So when I listened to inooro TV’s Kimuri ‘university’ on July 17th, 2025, i got new insights.
Drs Ngatia, a diabetes doctor and founder of Afya Mashinani & Njenga Kinuthia of St Peter & Ann Clinic– Ruaka were engaged by presenters Njenga Wambui and Nderitu Waihura in a very insightful and interesting discussion on diabetes among other conditions and health problems…
Dr Ngatia, who has treated terrible feet gangrene and redeemed various patients from amputations, dwelt much on the need for healthy feet.
According to him poor health is mostly manifested in feet that swell; feet that have lost sensation (neuropathy) and could even get burnt & roasted by fire without the patients’ knowing; feet that have growth of sorts and even feet that stink terribly even with the best of cleaning and hygiene practices.
He advised people and especially diabetes patients to seek immediate attention when they notice issues on their feet including persistent unexplained swelling; pale, dark colors or discoloration of the feet; lack of sensation and even terrible stinking.
As a person very sensitive to smells, I identified with the interesting conversation.
I recalled the many instances where I have suffered terribly from smelly feet of people I’ve welcomed to the house and who have removed shoes or people with whom I’ve shared spaces even in rooms where entering barefoot or clad with socks is the basic admission requirement.
Equally, I have suffered terribly in PSVs where I have sat next to people, often men, whose feet smell terribly even when covered with shoes….
In such circumstances, I have always taken the very first opportunity available to shift, run away to other seats hoping that my new position will be devoid of stinking feet… 🤔😔
