An outcry here (‘Hii, kwii na mbuuu’ –people are screaming):
Society:
In recent years & persistently, many young (as young as 30 years & 40 years) & middle aged men have been dying some in their sleep and others after getting seriously ill of various illnesses.
Sadly, this has been happening in the wider Kiambu County a.k.a. Dagoretti South & North and its environs (but now called Nairobi County).
Majority of the deaths have been resulting from excess consumption of alcohol (alcohol & drugs abuse) and unfortunately what is known as ‘illicit brews’.
Some of our sociologists & psychologists have been blaming the rising trend and reality not only on poor parenting especially from our absent, non – assertive fathers, and mothers (who unwisely dote on sons and end up pampering them too much) but also from the under – & unemployment situation that has left young men (&women) not only poor but also desperate and unable to face life with courage and confidence.
Essentially, blaming any particular person or parents’ gender for this terribly sad situation is neither here nor there…
What we need as a people is to wake up to this saddening reality and get into serious discourses whether in chiefs’ barazas or at our church gatherings which we religiously attend discussing all manner of issues such as building mega churches through massive funds drives and yet forgetting the very serious problems affecting our sons and men (and even capable of resulting in their extinction) in our wider Society and squarely in our midst… 🤔🤔😥😥
