Isn’t it a TOUGH WORLD indeed that we live in?

Listening to a plethora of ideas and theories about life and death and different spiritual dimensions and faiths, most of which compete for attention and even supremacy, a mind that is prone to interrogating issues and ideas and concepts and beliefs may take refuge in philosophical thinking.
Being philosophical enables one to honestly and courageously consider several sides of arguments almost objectively and without really taking one side as the absolute truth.
The depth and biases of most of the arguments may imprison minds leading to fanaticism and strong biases, but a philosophical mind can easily stay aloof and even if such a mind settles for a given argument or faith, that mind easily interrogates the arguments and faith & indeed the other faiths further & deeper trying to understand issues further, and also tolerantly listening to different and divergent views and also accommodating the freedom of expression of the others’ views…
For instance, different spiritual beliefs and faiths have over the years competed for attention.
Still, new entrants into this competition field, in recent years, are cultural and traditional beliefs and spiritual experts who apparently have been silent until the recent traditional cultures norms and practices Renaissance….
…. this is especially evident among the Agikuyu people, of central Kenya where I happen, by God’s grace and design, happen to belong… And where fortunately i get first hand information on everyday developments.
As I have mentioned, the traditional Agikuyu spiritual teachings versus Christianity teachings debate is especially rife currently among the Agikuyu people.
People on the different sides of the divide are evidently not very tolerant of each other and worse still variants of traditional cultural and spiritual beliefs & teachings some of which are recommending different and at times difficult to fathom and at times almost unreal, surreal practices, have emerged in big numbers.
… This has led in turn led to traditional beliefs conflicts and a kind of competition with each doctrine claiming supremacy and God’s truth.. .
Yet, perhaps to fit or remain relevant, some Christians have taken the route of combining their faith with some of the ‘not very retrogressive’ traditional norms and cultural practices.
And still as the phenomenal developments get sustained in different ways, the need for open, objective and honest discussions will continue to be necessary not just to remove confusion but also to bring better understanding of the divides, foster tolerance and remove unnecessary psychological conflict and stress…
People, must also continue asking themselves fundamental questions….
Questions about their faiths; how these faiths impact their lives/lifestyles and how these practically change the world to make it better in terms of how people treat each other and the general environment (faced by climate change among other serious challenges) and how, as stewards of the world, they shall leave it (the world) a better place for posterity…..
