Running late?
As September 2026 ends and October 2026 kicks in, the full moon is ‘getting’ /appearing smaller and its blare getting lesser especially since the moon is appearing much later in the night…
The Agikuyu people say that the moon is running late (mweri niiuracererwo!).
Even as the moon runs late, some of our our neighborhood’s pack of male dogs are wrecking havoc to surviving vegetation of flowers and shrubs as they move endlessly and restlessly fighting fiercely to secure time with apparently the few females and particularly one in this scenario. Their paths also further harden the grounds and paths on which they run!
In our local lingua it is claimed that the dogs are ‘on heat’.
The male dogs apparently have shifted from their homes and absconded their ‘security’ duties.
… I hear they do not even eat during such a season. It is like they get totally obsessed with mating as their sexual and reproductive instincts fully take control.
Many of the male dogs just lie idle and appear stressed and desperate waiting for just a single chance to try to ‘climb’ to the top the female’s back but with such attempts getting immediately contested by the others resulting in the vicious fights…
…. .
Their desperation and viciousness in the apparently endless fights perhaps best illustrate the ‘survival of the fittest’ concept in the world of animals.
In a domestic setting, however, the crazy-like dogs may pose a threat to innocent citizens, including children, going about their daily, normal businesses unaware that viciousness lies nearby should caution not be exercised.
In their crazed instincts, the males always regard other creatures including human beings as intruders either keen to stop their desire driven mating efforts or out to capture or even interfere their moment ‘prize’, the female or bitch in local lingua.. . …

I somehow pity the weaker males for i suspect that they end up as mere spectators in the fierce act.
Perhaps they satiate their desires eventually from merely watching the strongest do the act until the crazy instincts die off as nature rules….
