Why we must incessantly repent & pray as the Kenyan Nation..

…. The occurences happening in Kenya, in recent years, are not only very frightening and very sad but also mind- boggling.

As the Bible teaches us in Mathew 11:28 – 30….(Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest….), we must go to God almighty in humility praying and repenting not just as a people (Nation) but as individuals…

As individuals (both as individual citizens and leaders of different cadres & calibres), we must honestly seek God almighty and ask for help to change our ways for majority of us have fallen short of His glory.

In our short  sightedness, we like passing blame and we fear taking accountability for our actions.

We only see the logs in our brothers eyes before removing those in our own.

We complain daily, we talk ill of others and even abuse them in public.

We remain perpetually afraid and unhappy because we cannot sit and reason with others to hear of our failings and to learn about what we can do to improve our actions and mentality and even our perception of issues.

Moreover, we litter left, right and centre and some of us even hire mikokoteni pullers whom we charge with the duty of collecting terrible garbage from our premises and for disposal yet we do not care where the disposal will happen thus leading to dumping on roads and footpaths.

We also avoid our duties and responsibilities such as when we direct effluent from our crowded homes on to the runoff drain trenches and even on to footpaths & roads instead of investing in soakaway pits and in the process pollute our earth. Consequently, we selfishly inconvenience other world citizens who also have rights to clean spaces and environment.

We seem to be in a race to accumulate wealth no matter what we do or happens or what sins we commit in the processes..

.. We seem to be in competition too to malign others, talking ill and even exposing others to dangers provided the dangers are far from us…

We burn litter, even  in folly try to burn green biodegradable home waste, and produce Green house gases without any concern provided that the pungent fumes, smells and gases do not come to our houses or compounds.

We remain envious and are always looking for opportunities to destroy what others have built, including character, and in our folly we forget that nothing, nothing! even material wealth and properties no matter how huge or expensive will last forever.

We daily forget that life is like breath which does not and will never last forever.

We seem to be in terrible wars to hive off natural resources not for the good of all people but for individual gains. Apparently, most of us seem like and behave like purified self – centered ‘narcissistists. ..’……

Only concerned with our own personal gains, wellness and comfort and totally oblivious to & about the welfare and even the sufferings of others including our relatives and neighbors, we just exist as if we are really dead!! ….

We pretend daily and even pose as very pious especially when we go into or near places of worship yet in the real sense we habour untold, unfounded and ill – advised malice and hatred, and even bitter grudges from past prejudices and fabricated lies.

We slander and we gossip thus wasting many manhours which we would have used engaged in constructive activities or thoughts.

A less-read book in the Holy Bible (.. .the book of Sirach ….. ) cautions us about talking too much and even revealing others’ secrets given that the information in our hearts can not possibly burst out our organs…..

Ultimately, we must reflect, retreat, rethink, refocus, repent and ultimately change our ways both as individuals and as leaders and as a Country…..
