Can we really overcome? Can we find comfort and strength amid challenges? YES WE CAN!!
Psychology teaches us that the first step into the journey of healing or even steering through life challenges and issues is to accept the realities inherent in our lives. .
Accepting the realities we face in life somehow gives us the courage to acknowledge that we have presenting issues and most likely underlying issues which mostly turn out as problems.
If we can accept the realities in life and perhaps the fact that there is little we can do to overcome or change situations, or that there are strategies or actions we can take to improve situations or even surmount, we can then breathe in and exhale and then brace ourselves for the next course of action(s).
And the truth be told, every human being, including toddlers, infants & children face unique individual realities. Undoubtedly, new born infants face the reality of the new environment immediately after emerging from the comfort or otherwise of their mothers’ wombs and they even forced to cry for adults to confirm their wellness. Their new reality is that they now have to live breathing own air, eating via their mouths and passing their bowels.
Fortunately, children and other such helpless persons may get help from family and friends which helps the people cope better with their issues.
Yet, there is tough reality out there facing many people who have totally none other to look up to for help except God almighty or ‘the Superior Force” as some prefer to call God almighty.
For many who can look to none except God, that reality can (if well accepted) be the fuel that can strengthen and help such people to determinedly strive on and to ultimately overcome odds.
For instance, total orphans in life, can garner newer strength to fight on knowing that if they cannot fend for themselves, no one else can or would come to their help. Facing the tough realities, can be fuel for fighting on and on.
From daily observations and reflections, the battles one sees street families or other less disadvantaged people fight daily are good examples of a people armed with sheer, mere determination (in a world of limitations) to live on and on despite the odds.
Evidently, such people have assessed their circumstances and situations and accepted their realities.
And despite the harsh conditions, these people still live and apparently have some peace in their circumstances.
When one considers the struggles that such less disadvantaged people go through and still somehow survive through (evidently by God’s grace and power), one should be inspired especially if his or her circumstances are a bit better.
One should feel inspired to fight on and on without giving room to desperation.
Nevertheless, our reality remains:
the grand facts are that each one of us faces unique individual realities and circumstances that expose everyone of us to unique battles in life.
Consequently, no individual battle to conquer life and life odds can be similar to another’s, this pinpointing to the reality that there should neither be any need for needless competition to conquer life nor a single living formulae. There should never be comparisons as each person is wonderfully and uniquely created. Such needless comparisons can breed envy, animosity and even prejudices.
Each one of us must, therefore, fight own battles the best way they know how to. Even when the fighting is tough God almighty can still buttress them and help them win eventually.
Indeed, the needless competition and comparisons only fuel negative and adverse emotions including bitterness, rivalry and envy which are some of the strong emotions that make life more stressful and thus suck joy out of living.
Essentially, such needless and uncalled for competition between siblings and different families, for instance, ends up breeding hatred and disharmony and acrimony and even superiority complexes in people who feel more advantage or ‘blessed’ (the concept of being ‘blessed’ in contemporary Society is being rich and living happy, hustle free lives) which ends up making families dysfunctional and general communities full of disharmony, hatred & bitterness and lacking in positive social values
