Bamburi Cement Plc.’s generous support to believers during the 2026 Ramadhan season:

In 2026, Bamburi Cement Plc significantly expanded its annual Ramadhan Food Drive, scaling the initiative to support approximately 4,000 vulnerable families across Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Machakos and Nairobi counties and reaching at least 30,000 beneficiaries.

In its second year of execution, the food provision drive has grown into a large-scale community lifeline during the Holy Month, it was revealed in Nairobi, Kenya on March 9, 2026.

Amsons Group (Bamburi Cement parent company) Country Representative, Tawakal Rajab Sumba witnessed the event and observed that the initiative is rooted in compassion and inclusivity. “By increasing our reach to 30,000 individuals and expanding into areas such as Matuga, we are deepening our partnership with communities and reinforcing our long-term commitment to social impact,” he affirmed.

To thousands of Muslims fasting from dawn to dusk, the daily Iftar meal is both a spiritual and communal moment. Yet for many low-income households, the inability to afford daily meals has become an increasing challenge and a matter of urgent concern. By targeting 4,000 families, translating to nearly 30,000 individuals, the 2026 drive sought to ensure that more families broke their fast with dignity rather than uncertainty.

The 2026 programme also increased its footprint by extending food support to Kenya Prisons facilities, orphanages and children’s homes, given that these institutions are silently facing food insecurity which threatens to quietly cripple them.

The initiative was officially launched at Afra Hall in Mombasa Town and signaled the start of coordinated food distributions throughout the fasting period. Deliveries included essential food supplies aimed at sustaining households throughout the holy month.

Launched in 2025 followingBamburi Cement PLC’s acquisition by the Amsons Group, the Ramadhan Food Drive has evolved into a flagship corporate social responsibility programme. Beyond numbers, it represents a deliberate shift toward structured, sustained community support in regions where Bamburi Cement operates.

The 2026 outreach culminated in a stakeholder Iftar dinner hosted in Mombasa, bringing together partners and community representatives in a shared moment of reflection and gratitude.

As aforementioned, Bamburi Cement PLC is a member of the Amsons Group and is the leading cement manufacturing company in the Eastern Africa region, having been operational for 70 years. Its subsidiaries include Bamburi Special Products Ltd, Bamburi Eco Systems Ltd and Diani Estates Ltd.
