Country Music, the evergreen Gem

Courtesy of celebrations of the world country music day possibly for the first time in the country sometimes in Oct – Nov 2025 period, i got exposed to real dancing styles in country music.
Previously, I, perhaps like many others in the GenX, middle and senior citizenship age brackets, had known country music as a genre for enjoyment merely through listening.
Today, i greatly enjoy the country music dancing styles courtesy of ‘Thuthira Ngoro’ country music show hosted by Kairu, the cowboy, every Sunday night from 10.15pm & with a show repeat on consecutive Saturdays from around 11am.
And today, Dec 20th, I found the show very nice. The song ‘don’t worry, be happy’ by Bobby really lifted my spirits.
Apart from the dramatic and interesting dancing by a team of funny and comic dancers clad in funny country – like attire, the lyrics also encouraged me.
“Avoid your frowns and frown looks for they bring everybody down.. Don’t worry, be happy… Don’t bring everybody down…” the lyrics continued.
And these lyrics made me reflect on the role each mature person has in spreading happiness and positivity in life in how each carries himself or herself despite the inevitable realities of hardships, low and highs in life.
It got me thinking of the fact often repeated that, “real joy and peace” is a self responsibility that can only & truly be found only from within each one of us.
It also got me thinking of the devastating effects of the negative energy we daily meet from our friends, family, acquaintances or the ‘neighbors’ we daily share life with in PSVs, retail shops queues or in different public spaces.
I realized how important my role to manouver through such situations as an individual is…
In reflection, I realized my important duty in fleeing such negative energy.
The Bible verse ‘flee the devil and he will also flee from you’ is an added motivation, I’ve realized to overcome such situations 😊😊🙏🏿
